Nova 2.0 is Here: A Massive Overhaul!

Welcome to Nova 2.0!

We’ll be frank: Nova 2.0 is a big release. It’s the culmination of months of hard work, and we're incredibly excited to finally share it with you. We're not just talking about minor tweaks; we've completely overhauled significant portions of Nova, focusing on usability, customization, and performance. This release aims to address a lot of community feedback, and we truly believe it will significantly enhance your Pterodactyl experience. Because of the extent of the changes, we highly recommend a clean installation – more on that later!

Nova Studio: Your Playground, Redefined

Nova Studio continues to be the heart of Nova’s unparalleled customization. We've made significant strides in making it even more powerful and user-friendly. Perhaps the most impactful change is the simplification of asset management. Gone are the days of painstakingly constructing URLs for your images. Now, you can simply upload the images you need directly within Nova Studio, streamlining the design process considerably.

Furthermore, the consistent navigation header styles (text, icon + text, and wordmark) now extend to your login pages, creating a seamless and unified aesthetic across your panel. For those who love a touch of visual flair, we're thrilled to announce configurable blur strength for the "Blurry fade" background style – now you have even more control over the mood and tone of your panel.

Route management within Nova Studio has also been completely revamped. You can now reorder routes in the sidebar, making it easier than ever to organize your Blueprint extensions. We're also allowing custom icons for Blueprint extension routes, allowing for even more visual distinction and ease of navigation. To round out the visual enhancements, we've added two new sidebar styles: Pill and Dot, providing even greater options for customization.

Dashboard Improvements: Efficiency and Organization

The dashboard has received some significant upgrades designed to improve your workflow and overall experience. The most requested feature has finally arrived: server search! No more endless scrolling to find that one server you’re looking for. Just type in the name, and it's right there.

We’re also introducing per-egg server card backgrounds, allowing you to add a unique visual identity to each of your eggs. Server folders provide a new layer of organization, helping you keep your server list manageable, especially as your infrastructure grows. The ability to sort and rearrange your servers on the dashboard offers even more control over how you manage your environment. Finally, we're very happy with the redesigned "Your Account" page, offering a clean and intuitive way to manage your personal settings.

General Changes: Streamlining Everything

Beyond the core improvements to Nova Studio and the dashboard, we've made several general changes that will enhance your overall experience. We've introduced the Nova CLI, a powerful new tool designed to simplify installation, updates, and log submission to our support channels. It's especially useful for managing multiple Nova installations. The complete installation guide can be found here.

Perhaps one of the most exciting additions is comprehensive translation support. We’ve built it directly into the frontend, allowing us to offer panels in German, French, Italian, and Polish out of the box. Even better, Panel administrators now have the tools to translate the panel into their own languages! You can find all the documentation you need here.

Under the hood, we’ve migrated from Webpack to Vite, a modern build tool that should significantly improve build speeds and simplify the development process. This change won't be visible directly to users, but it lays the groundwork for future improvements and enhancements.

Due to the scope of these changes, we strongly recommend performing a clean installation of Nova 2.0. This will ensure that you benefit from all the new features and improvements without any potential conflicts or issues. The easiest way to achieve this is to reinstall Pterodactyl following this guide.

Important Note for Panel Administrators: Before you begin the reinstallation process, please back up your .env file. This file contains the application encryption key, and losing it can lead to data loss.

We can’t wait to see what you create with Nova 2.0. As always, feedback is invaluable, so please don't hesitate to reach out with your thoughts and suggestions.
